Qutab Minar : This iconic monument, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the identity of Delhi and one of the most prominent examples of Indo-Islamic architecture.
I visited the monument quite a few times and each time found a new angle to shoot from; and this is the angle I found most fascinating – Kutab Minar at the backdrop of Alai Minar – an unfinished tower at Qutub Complex. Construction of Alai Minar was started by Alauddin Khilji, who wished to construct a tower twice the height of Qutub Minar but that remained his dream.
Within the Qutab Minar complex, a 7.21 meter tall iron pillar of Delhi, famous for its rust-resistant composition of the metals, is also situated. The pillar weighs over 3 tonnes and is said to have been erected elsewhere and shifted to its present location in 11th century.
