Situated at Nizamuddin (East) Delhi, this 16th century garden tomb is the tomb of the second Mughal Emperor Humayun, built by his wife Empress Hamida Banu Begum and the mother of his successor Emperor Akbar.
This red sandstone structure was designed by Persian architects Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son Sayyid Muhammad. The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
Besides the main tomb, several smaller Tombs such as – Isa Khan Tomb, Bu Halima Tomb, Afsarwala Tomb, Barber’s Tomb etc. are also situated within the 27.04 hectare Humayun’s Tomb Complex.
I visit the place quite often, each time trying to capture a better picture with a different angle. The place never ceases to fascinate me.
