Situated at Hauz Khas on Aurobindo Marg, the Chor Minar (Tower of Thieves) is a 13th century minaret with 225 holes, built by Alauddin Khalji of Khalji dynasty (1290–1320).

Legends have it that these 225 holes of Chor Minar were used to put on display the severed heads of thieves to strike terror in the minds of thieves which may act as a deterrent effect on them.
