Situated at Chandni Chowk in the walled city of Delhi, this Sikh Shrine marks the site where the 9th Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur was martyred.

Prior to the construction of this Gurudwara (1783), a Mughal Kotwali (Police Station) was situated at the site, which was demolished by the British after 1857 mutiny and the site was handed over to the Sikhs.

The present structure was constructed by Rai Bahadur Narain Singh, a contractor who built most of the roads in Lutyens zone.
