Situated at Chandni Chowk in the walled city of Delhi, this building housed the Headquarters of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) from 1866 till the same shifted to its new Headquarter building (Dr. SPM Civic Centre) at Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, New Delhi.  

The construction of Town Hall was started in the year 1860 and was completed in 1863. Initially known as Lawrence Institute, which housed Delhi College of Higher Studies, the building was bought by the Municipal Corporation in the year 1866.

In picture –  Statue of the Arya Samaj leader Swami Shraddhanand standing at the Ghantaghar side (a Clock Tower once stood there) of the Town Hall complex.  Earlier, a bronze statue of Queen Victoria stood at the site, which is now standing at the Delhi College of Art complex.
